Operational Principle

The objective of the Kouvola Region Expertise Centre is to answer the challenges of the information society and to ensure that professionally-skilled and qualified people, who have the ability to create new ideas and to apply recent knowledge, are available to meet the demands of working life, such as entrepreneurship and other aspects of society‘s needs.

Improving Expertise

The goal of the Expertise Centre is to train professionally-skilled people who are able to provide new ideas and to apply recent knowledge. Improving expertise in this way introduces innovations to meet the demands of the service production of business life and the information society.

Network Co-operation as a Line of Action

The operation of the Expertise Centre takes place in networks which include both institutions of higher education and companies.

Operation in Practice

The operational principle of the Expertise Centre is to connect and utilize the expertise of educational establishments and companies in communication, IT content production, internationalising and Russian language and culture.

The operational principle is realized by providing research, development and training programmes and by promoting co-operation between companies and educational establishments.

The operation of the Expertise Centre is concentrated in three areas, these being the Field of Language, the Field of Multimodal Educational and Manual Materials and the Field of Technical Design. Each of these fields has its own main partners. The main partners of the Field of Language are the flagship companies, the University of Helsinki and the Kouvola Region Federation of Municipalities. Participating in the Field of Multimodal Educational and Manual Materials are the flagship companies, Kymenlaakso Polytechnic and the Kouvola Region Federation of Municipalities. Co-operating with the Field of Technical Design are the flagship companies, Lappeenranta University of Technology and the Kouvola Region Federation of Municipalities.

The primary idea of the operation is that it is based on the utilization of the expertise principally of the participants who are contractually involved in the networks of the Expertise Centre. The intention is that the participants seek an agreement on their co-operation in the network annually, in advance. Administratively, the Expertise Centre is a part of the Kouvola Region Federation of Municipalities and follows its norms and instructions.
